The Arvada Center Teen Intensive is a program that mimics the rehearsal and production process of professional Main Stage musicals at the Arvada Center. The program provides a fun and fast-paced educational setting where participants work with industry professionals to encourage, inspire, challenge and refine students’ performance skills. Participants then apply their skills directly as they create their characters within the show. In this intensive program, students gain insights into the entire theatrical production process. As always, the goal of the Arvada Center Teen Intensive is to educate, promote growth, and provide an atmosphere where students can explore their own creativity and be supported and celebrated for who they are. This year our title is The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family. In this production we bring to the stage an original story and dilemma, that is every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family—a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before—keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents. This four-week camp will encourage, inspire, challenge, and refine students at all levels as they come together as strangers and leave as family, all in the spirit of fun.

Auditions and Casting:
Mandatory auditions will be held Saturday, May 16 between 9:00am–4:00pm. All students are required to audition and roles will be cast by May 26. For the audition, students should prepare a one- to two-minute memorized monologue or reading as well as 16–24 bars of music (please bring an instrumental recording of your music). They should also bring dance shoes and be prepared to learn a simple dance combination. Students must sign up for an audition upon registration and audition time slots will be assigned by calling the Arvada Center Box Office at 720-898-7200. Any student not able to make the audition date should send a video of themselves singing and acting to the Arvada Center and this should be received prior to the May audition. No additional audition times will be scheduled. Auditions will be used to determine casting and all students will be given equal opportunities for participation in this production. Parents and students should understand that even if a student is disappointed with their casting, tuition cannot be refunded. Students must attend all rehearsals and performances for this musical theatre intensive. If a performer cannot attend the full rehearsal and performance schedule, please communicate conflicts clearly before auditions. The deadline for reporting major conflicts is May 16. Conflicts may affect casting decisions and staging inclusions. Please bring a sack lunch each day of camp. Lunch time supervision will be provided for no additional fee.

Non-refundable deposit of $300 is due at time of registration and holds your space in the program. Casting will be announced by May 26, balance of tuition is due by May 26. Students may be dropped from production if tuition isn’t paid by deadline.

This class is either full or not on sale at this time. Please call the box office at 720-898-7200 for more information.
