The Colorado Chamber Orchestra presents its inaugural performance as Orchestra-In-Residence at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities.

Maestro Thomas Blomster will lead the orchestra in performances of familiar favorites by Mozart, Beethoven, and selections from CCO Composer-in-Residence, Dr. Michael Udow .

Our season premiere performance at the Arvada Center will feature internationally renowned bass-baritone David Barron as soloist. The program opens with the overture to Mozart's greatest opera Don Giovanni . An ominous introduction gives way to a contrasting section which belies the unsavory character of the opera's protagonist.

Vocal soloist David Barron will be featured in two pieces by Michael Udow , Electric Silence and Seven Textural Settings of Japanese Poetry. Written by Dr. Udow shortly after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Electric Silence offers a solemn tribute as we mark the 51st anniversary of the event.

Seven Textural Settings of Japanese Poetry is a Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) award winning composition.

Bayou Reflections is a suite from Dr. Udow's second opera, Twelve Years a Slave . It is based on the autobiography by Solomon Northup which also inspired the Academy Award winning movie of the same name co-produced by Brad Pitt.

Udow's music reflects his impressive background as a highly trained and sought-after professional percussionist/pedagogue with his passionate interest in exploring world cultures and their music.

The concert concludes with Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 , one of the composer's most enduring and masterful works. It features the famous second movement funeral march (played at JFK's funeral) and concludes with a thrilling race-to-the-finish finale.
